It's odd because it seems all other GM sedan OEM sunroofs retract outside, including the GP and Impala sedans... Only the fullsize sedans seem to retract into the roof...
Yeah all w-body and smaller cars go above the roof from GM that I know of, at least the latest models. I know pre-97 w-bodies went in between the headliner and roof also. But the h-bodies and stuff like that (park avenue if thats not an h-body) all go in between the headliner and roof, and therefore you lose headroom.

that is because with the slope of the roof on some cars the roof is not able to retract inside
I wish I had roof pics of PJ's car, but the sunroof takes up about 2/3s of the roof, no way its gonna fit inside it...
