Default Crack in Leather Seats

My Bonneville has a little over 22 000 km'* (14000 miles). I noticed the front drivers seat leather had cracked near the head rest.

I take very good are of the car and use Meguiars Automotive Leather car on the seats.

When I took the car to the dealership I expected them to say that I had scratched the leather. To my surprise they said it was a crack. Then the service manager went on to say that this was normal. I told him after 9 months the seats of this car should not be cracking unless they were abused.

He told me he was concerned that a new panel for the seat might not be the same color due to the different dye lots.

Has anyone else had a panel replaced in their leather seat?? What was the result? Was the color the same?

I have had family and friends who have owned GM'* with leather seats and there hasnt been any cracking problems for years after they buy the car.

I would say that cracking is a common thing that is occuring...i have a 93 and my stock seats have not cracked at all...i have AL7'* in the car now.....

and as for different Dye Lots.....i dunno about that...i have leather covers for my AL7'* from a 92 and a 95...they match my Leather AL7'* and they match my stock leather perfectally

Anyone else out there experienced cracking in the leather seats within the first 3 years of owning a new Bonneville?

Are you talking cracked to the point of being a hole or just lines.

Cracked right threw the leather so that the material under is showing.

There are a number of lines and creases which I would expect on any leather seat.

Not looking to "lemon" the car at all. The fact of the matter is that this car has been a disaster. I love the design of the car and the performance of the car.

What I am sick of is the trips to the dealership for a car that I have owned for 9 months now.

The reason I posted this is because the dealership made it sound like this is perfectly normal. I just wanted to see how everyone elses seats were standing up. That way when the dealership says its normal, I can say your full of sh*t!

If the seats are cracked to the extent that you say then thats a defect not normal wear.
