Default Coolant leak - recall #03034 plus DEXCOOL problems?

Just took my 2000 in for recall on possible coolant leak near intake manifold. I'm told fix was to replace 3 bolts plus add some stop-leak tablets to coolant. Can't say I was too wild about the stop-leak being added... any experience or thoughts on this? While there, technician began saying that something major is about to come out about problems with DEXCOOL, the new style orange coolant. Again, any thoughts or comments?

We've had about a 5-6 page thread about the Dex-Cool and Ethylene Glycol coolants....Personal exp. in my life, I hate the dex and it turns into mud and muck eventually (been givin the nick name "Mississippi Mud" by many shops and technicians) I've flushed many dex systems and switched to green coolant ( Ethylene Glycol) and had a lot better results with cooling systems. My 2 cents, but this forum is very diverse when it comes to coolant.

Mine developed a leak in the same location.
I took off the throttle body and the small plate just below it and sealed them both with a light coat of RTV high temp silicone sealant. It won't leak anymore.

There is a new "Peak" coolant that just came out, with a "Lifetime" never have to change claim.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with using a product like Lifetime Peak. But as the old saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". In this case I would bet that if you had a problem related to the Peak Antifreeze, that trying to get reimbursed for the repair would probably involve taking a trip to small claims court. In other words, it just ain't worth it. That said, I think that this is a good product, but I would not go past 5 years(100K miles) without changing this coolant.

Also, I have heard that GM adds those "stop-leak" tablets in every car with Dex-Cool
