Chirping noise from the hood
Hello, I am a new owner of a 2000 buick regal. I recently sent it to garage to get UIM and LIM fixed. After the repair, my car developed an annoying chirp sound after the car is heat up. The noise is almost constant during idling and slow driving. Upon fast acceleration, I am not sure if I still heard this sound.
I first suspect it is the drive belt that is cracked during the UIM work and let garage replace it. However, the noise is still there. I am so frustrated. Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Is it a chirping, or a whistling? I also recommend recording a video if you have a camera that records sound. It is very hard to track down noises without a audio clip/video.

Try spraying the center part of each pulley with some WD40 and see if one of them quiets down. If so, you've found your culprit. If not, we'll move on from there.
Edit - Another thought....remove the oil filler cap and see if the sound goes away. If it does, they may have forgotten the O ring for the PCV when they did the intake.

Thanks, folks
I wish I found this site earlier although it is not dedicated to a old buick.
As Bonneville92V688 said, it is more like a whistle instead of chirp!
Archon, I will look at that stuff for sure. Good suggestion.
I will check my car per your recommendation tomorrow morning and update this thread.

My vote goes to the o-ring...I forgot to replace mine when i replaced my PCV valve which is mounted in the UIM.
There should be one on the PCV valve itself, and one below in the hole.

I thought my car ran smoother once the o-ring was in place. What is actually going on with pressure? Wouldn't it mechanically be more efficient if there was an equal amount of pressure in the valve covers?
I guess I fixed it but what does the PCV valve actually regulate the pressure in the valve covers?
