any ideas on what this could mean? just came on last night and according to my manual it may be a number of things ... wonder how much $ it would cost to find out at a local garage? might just be better to buy a odbII tester and go from there ... just wondering from other'* experience with this problem what it could be? Thanks
The manual is right...it can be any number of things that can set it. There isn't one cause that stands out over others from the experience here. Around here, Advance Auto Parts, or Autozone will pull the code for free. I'm not sure what you may have available to you.
If you plan on doing any work on your car, a code reader, or better yet a scanner, would be a good investment.

right on thanks .. i'm defenitely gonna call around and try to find a good quote to have my car read ... (free would rock , but would be good for business on their end) hopefully it'* just an O2 sensor or something cheap and not too complicated
Canadian Tire had a obd2 code reader on special a few weeks ago.....$49 rings a bell.
The guy at the counter might lend one for a quick scan....if he has one out?
Other than the light how does the car run?
From your sig I see you put in a 180*stat......for us canadians that could be the code? the engine did not come up to temp in the pre-programmed time frame. A custom pcm takes advantage of this and views the temp accordingly.

I bought a OBD2 Reader and Found the DTC code'* p0455 is the reason for my check engine light ........ Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (gross leak/no flow) anyone know what exactly this could be? something to do with my exaust/muffler? again thanks for any help you may give...
I'm not familiar with that exact code and it'* possible meanings, but Evap. system leaks can often be as simple as a break/split in a vacuum line. Pop the hood and look around at the vacuum and evap. lines, especially aroun the area of your T-stat. It'* possible that you may have loosened a line when you were working on it and it has come loose.
I agree with Lash. Check the line at the evap solenoid under the hood, and where the lead to the charcoal cannister under the car, under the back seat, and then back to the vent valve. If all those are good, try removing and clean and lubing the vent valve back near the rear tire.

thanks will do tomorrow ... hopefully i'll find it.. I can turn the light off with the ibd2 reader but i'm not sure whether it'll come back on if the problem still exist... as it could of even been a loose gas cap..
There is a service bulletin on the p0455 code to replace the tank pressure sensor if all other parts check out.
Just went through this on a Grand Prix. You have to check all the lines as suggested first.
