Default CD changer question for PontiacDad

He has a 2k SSEi. Doesn't have the CD changer, but he has the bracket and harness. He has the AM/FM/CD/Cassette HU. Will the factory changer plug and play? Or was there a difference in HU'*?

According to our books last night, we see no difference, but he recalls a slightly different display on some. His says FM1/FM2/AM where some display BAND???

Not sure if I explained that the way he slurred......explained it to me between beers. Can anyone answer this?

I dont think this helps a lot, but here I come. My moms car is also a 2000 and have a factory cd changer. This is a picture of the HU, so he can compare with his own. On the display, it should have the CD changer icon, that looks like 3 CD'* on top of each other (the one to the right of the hour on the pic). I think it could work, because I dont think they had made to many differents HU options, but I only have 3 days with the car, and I am no expert yet

Thanks, Ricky. That picture will come in handy. PontiacDad is here with me for the West Coast meet, and 2000SilverBullet will be here today. Bullet has a changer. We can compare your HU with both other 2000'*!

Will are there buttons that say 1-6, maybe even 1-12? If so, it most likely will work with a changer, as those would operate it.

The 12 Disc changer option may show on the HU indicated by the term PROG on one of the presets. See if Paul has that on his car

I'm going to be watching on ebay for one (or if someone finds one at a wrecker?)
I think it will work, we checked the harness with Silverbullet and its there, would have been a hassle after the beers to pull the unit and try but it looks like its good to go
