Default Can't believe this JUST happend again!!!! (and a question)

As some of you know, i just got my car back last weekend from having the motor replaced due to the LIM failing and damaging the motor with coolant in the oil. One week later, this motor now is leaking out of the LIM! As soon as i got out of my car wash today, i noticed the smell of coolant coming thru my heater, so i checked the overflow bottle and it was down a little. Took it to Pep Boys and they stuck die in to see where it was leaking from and sure enough, it is the LIM gasket.

My question: What'* the best LIM gasket to buy that WON'T fail and where to buy it from?

sounds like installation error, IMO.

The new aluminum framed gaskets are the best but like anything, if they messed up putting them in then they wont do much good.

No, i had my motor REPLACED, meaning this is a different motor. On my last motor, the LIM gasket was replaced, but 2 weeks later i spun my #4 bearing due to the internal damage that coolant in the oil caused. I've just had this motor in my car for a week and now this LIM is leaking. That'* why i was asking what kind and where to buy a good LIM gasket.

I understand that. How do you know no work was done to the motor you dropped in?

Best lim gasket out now is the aluminum framed ones. You can get them from intense or you local dealer. I paid 48 bucks for them at my dealer.

somebody put the LIM gasket in your car in wrong.

Go with the metal framed if you have a choice

So the Pontiac dealer will have the aluminum framed gaskets? If so, that will be cool and that'* what will be going into my car. And the DexCool will definitely NOT be going back in.

Make sure you clean the LIM gasket mating surfaces real well around the coolant passages. Then smear a tiny bit of RTV with your middle finger all around the opening for a leak tight seal.
The coolant is so corrosive, it will pit the steel on the heads and promote leaking past the rubber gasket seal.

It was a used motor with 10k less miles than my car. It was all warranty work as i have no say-so with the warranty company. To say the least, they're not going to be happy about replacing another LIM gasket when they just replaced one a month ago and had to replace a motor.

then you can tell them they should have given you a new motor the first time Or atleast replaced all the gaskets in it while the replacement wasn't in the car
