bad sound from under the floor
so a few weeks ago i had a post about a clicking sound everytime i push the gas. i thought it was the exhaust manifolds, but that checked itself out.
After carefully listening to the sound, i think ive narrowed it down.
within the first minute of me starting the 01 bonne, When i push the gas alittle (and i mean moving the engine 200 rpm) you hear a weird wierd crackle sound from under the drivers side floor. it will also make this sound as the car idles for the first 30 seconds, then starts to fade away (until i go to move the gas 200 rpm, then you can hear it again, if you go past 1500 rpm i cannot hear it all that much). Driving with the radio off and surrounded under a bridge or something that will enclose sound (like driving in a garage) you can hear the sound still. clearly it doesnt go away, it just fades away until i get in an enclosed space
whats wrong with my car?

I had to go outside and look. It'* one of those "ain't no good place" things, but it appears as if through the engine bay would be easier. The rack may be in the way from underneath. While you're checking things, check the gasket between the down pipe and cat also. If you haven't had any work done in those areas, also check to make sure you don't have a front mount problem which could cause the gasket at the manifold to go.

i gave the cat converter a good shake.... guess what.
in the 00+ bonneville crowd, how many of you have changed/replaced because you had to .. the cat converter?
im gonna go get a second opinion however i think im right on this one. Beings i have to replace it, does say a magnaflow cat converter help offer a deeper growl than the stock ones? if so by how much.
im really startng to hate my car.

ptrfair,
I had the same sound comming from my Bonne, and yes it did get quieter the as the engine came up to temp. I got my Magnaflow CAT off ebay for $80, but you could get it cheeper. I am very pleased with the CAT and the sound, I also did a resonator delete. Dont hate your car It just has a few quarks.
