Default Cabin Filter

Ok, I searched, but still had a question. I have a late 2003 SSEi which as the cabin filter deleted by GM due to complaints. I want to readd it.

I see there is a retainer clip (20664092) that is needed. If I buy the Air filter from GM (25654414) is that all I need? I almost read that the Fram CF8804 filter has the frame to where maybe the GM filter doesn't.. Geeze, I am confused.

Also, I was wondering if anyone has a photo of the filter installed, or of the different pieces. Please send them to red88gta@hotmail.com. I already need to order a bunch of stuff for my truck from gmpartsdirect and would like to get this stuff also. Thanks

Pat

The Fram Filter comes with a plastic support/frame.

The Fram filter worked in my 2004 Bonneville. The install was a little confusing due to the shape of the bracket but it does fit into the enclosure.

Did installing the Fram filter require the retainer clip? I assume it did...

Ordering a retainer clip from gmpartsdirect requires you to order 10 of them at something like .39 cents a piece.

I did not need a retainer clip. The fame held the filter securely in place.

All you need is a plastic tie to use if you do not have the retainer clip. I also bought the Fram filter and it worked perfect in my 2003 SSEi.

Well, I have went around to all the auto parts stores and no one carried the Fram kit. Since I needed parts for my 94 truck, I just went ahead and ordered the 25669930 kit from GM for $33. We'll see how complete the kit is... Pat

How did the GM part work out? I am looking at installing the filter in my GXP.

GM part worked fine, but you will have to order the retainer clip separately or do like I did and use a small tie strap. I believe I talked about this in another thread, but I liked using the tie strap better. It allowed the filter to fit into the slot more securely. PM me with your email address and I can send a pic of it in place.

Just like others said, it takes a lot of finesse to get into that hole. Didn't have to tear anything up thou..
