According to my parts catalog....they were factory installed 00-02, "dealer installed option" for 03-05...

After going through several of the 25654414'*, and 1 Fram... they started to reek mustyness after 2 or 3 months...the Cadillac filter (25689297), as I posted earlier...eliminates all that, so far 3 months...no "mustyness"! :P

I've not had any mustiness in mine on an 03! I've changed it once per year.

It must be my damp garage...that & I only usually drive my car a few weekends during the month...

Whatever the case...the carbon one doesn't attract the smell...

You might try leaving a window open slightly for some air flow to move through the car when it'* sitting parked inside the garage. I do that in the summer because of the damp moist smell from the air conditioning moisture.

make sure you get the good one that fits down in, not the cheap one available at most parts stores, heres the original thread with pics and part numbers

I usually run the heat for about 10 minutes before parking the car for an extended time frame...

I don't leave the windows open...as I lock the car up due to security reasons...

Anyways...I work for a GM dealer, so that'* where I bought mine!!!
