Hey guys, I went to replace my cabin airfilter and noticed there wasn't one in there.
I went to my local auto parts and bought a filter for it but something doesn't seem right about the fit. The filter fits in there, but isn't there suppose to be something that it'* suppose to be fasten to? Or does it just lay in there? It'* got a flap that bends down. Whats the deal here?

I just replaced mine and I also was a bit confused. Let me take a look tonight and I'll see if I can splain it. Or, is there an easy way to post a pic? Also, didn't the book show a pic of it installed?
It does not clip on. It just slides into the compartment on the passenger side of the engine compartment by the windshield. Once you slide it in the short part of the filter bend goes down. It is a bit of a funky design but it works.

There should be a plastic support frame that the filter fits into. The filter should be located in the frame to be secured in place. The Fram Cabin Air Filters come with the frame. I think the GM replacement filter elements come w/o a frame based on the fact that you should already have the support frame.

Okay, I don't have the plastic support frame. How important is that? Also, is it possible to order just the frame being that I already have the filter?
Thanks guys

I think we determined that the 00'* came with the filter - no plastic frame though. Here'* a pic of mine when I changed it out. It just slides into the compartment - but I do remember my son saying it was a bugger getting it in... But on mine, I don't remember there being room for a plastic frame...not sure if your 03 is the same or different.
