bonneville transmission

Default bonneville transmission

I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville ssei I was driving home with no trans problems what so ever shifted normal and did not slip at all .put the car in park went in the house got up the next morning started the car put in gear and felt nothing car has no forward or reverse at all no movement what so ever. even when reving engine way up. let it warm up and still nothing. checked fluid level it was full.when shift out of park car rolls if pushed but no drive put in park and car wont roll.cable is working fine

Sounds like the sprag clutch might of broke or the foward apply piston seal blew out. If you can get your hands on a scanner that has special functions capabilitys I would comand the transmission into 2nd and see if it moves. Either way the trans needs to come out and torn down.

The same thing happened to my Grand Prix last week. You may or may not be able to move the car in first, second, or third gear; but fourth gear (D) isn't going to work. Unfortunately, unless it'* something simple like a loose connector, you may be looking at a transmission rebuild.
