Unhappy Big Problem Bonneville 2002. HELP

Hi Guys..!

I have a very big problem with my Car. (Bonneville 2002). The transmission is not working well, the problem is gears sliding and do not have power. But when I disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor, the Car goes better. Otherwise is that the engine has no power. no more that 3,500-4,000 RPM with the pedal in the floor.!...sincerely, I dont know that to do.! I'm desperate...!

(NOTE: "NO" Check Engine Light On)

Please If any one of you have some information about this trouble.. Please let my know...!

My Email is: remo_avant@hotmail.com

Thank you all! : confused:

Best Regards...

Hi and welcome to the Bonneville Forum!

Please add your year and trim of your vehicle to your signature line. That way when you start asking questions in other areas of the forum, we all have a better idea on how to assist you. Click on "Quick Links" above, go down to "User Control Panel" and then click on "Edit your Signature" It'* pretty straight forward from there.

Clean your MAF. You can get some MAF cleaner at most auto parts stores. Just spray it on and let it air dry. Do not touch the wire in the MAF. You can damage it.

Let'* see if this doesn't help you. If not, then we've got one possible problem out of the way.

Thanks for the responce, but the MAF is new, for example what do you think that is the problem with the RPM? no power with the engine, no more than 3,500 - 3,800 RPM..?

The MAP sensor can cause problem like your describing. But I hate throwing parts at a problem. But if I had to throw a part at it, the MAP would be my first toss.

You can test it but you will need to hook up a multimeter and a vacuum. You then pull a set amount of vacuum to check the voltage. I have not made up a test write up for this. But if you have the tools needed I could maybe whip something up real fast.

I was able to whip this together real fast. I think I still have some work to do on it. Let me know how it works for you and I'll adjust if needed.

It seems that the Map is Ok, I checked it with a multimeter like you said.. But...no problems was found.. so I don't know what more can I do..! One think.. the problem and my question is.. what is the relation MAF/Gear Box... because like I said, when I disconnected the MAF (Mass Air Flow) the Gear box works better..! and..of course Service Engine Light appears.!

Bad news brothers... Yesterday I understood the real problem with my car.. I'm very sad because my Bonnie is almost dead. The sad history from yesterday was when I was driving thru the I10 in El Paso my car looses all the power. Then the engine becomes to knocking from inside "really.. a very bad noise", when I open the hood, a lot of oil smoke came from inside... Now I know.. My problem was the Engine, may be my oil pump was not working... Now I need to be thinking that my bonnie needs a new Heart...
