Default Battery Saver Not working

So I lost my 2000 Bonneville SE in an accident and bought a 2000 SSEi to replace it. I always used to leave my ipod plugged into the cigarette lighter, knowing that 10 minutes after i shut the car off, power shuts off to the lighter and wouldnt kill my battery constantly charging the ipod.

In the SSEi power is staying to the cig lighters (front and rear) constantly. Im not sure if something is malfunctioning or if the prev owner may have hacked into the wiring somehow to keep power going to them.

Any thoughts? Is there something that would cause the inadvertent battery saver to stop working?

Thanks.

I'm not sure those are on the battery saver. I know in my 97 it'* not part of that.

Thanks, but I know it is part of the battery saver system b/c my 2000 SE works this way, and the manual states it specifically.

There may be a way of programing that, There should be something in the owners manual. I seem to remember something about that in mine about leaving the inside lights on and having the radio play.

It'* not a programmable item. A free scan at Advance could tell you if a trouble code exists. My '05 doesnt work with the key of regardless. I wonder if the previous owner wired the lighter around the circuit.

Hang in there. Where'* DDalder and 1993 SLE. I'm pretty sure there'* a couple different ways you can do it through a fuse or relay. The info might be in your owners manual. But as I remember..it'* switchable.

Awesome! Thanks Bill. I cant beleive I missed that when I went looking in the manual. Of course, I lost 4th gear on the way home today, its a shame such nice cars have such a garbage trans...This is our 3rd Bonneville and the 3rd tranny that went bad....luckily I still have my junked one with a rebuilt tranny to put back in.

Thanks again!
