Default Auto Headlamps - How do you turn them off?

Hello,

I have been running into situations where I would like to turn off my headlamps at dusk and dawn when appraoching an entrance to valet parking, stadium security, etc., and I find myself feeling silly not knowing how to do it. Can anyone clue me in?

regards,

Darren

on the 2000+ Bonneville the headlights cannot be shut off. The OFF position on the stalk should actually say "auto" IMO. anytime the car is in gear, the lights will turn back on if you turn them off by turning the delay button.

Luckily not all of the Bonneville'* sister cars adopted that.. My stalk has Auto, headlights, parking lots, and off. Off actually means off.

Turning the light delay to off will only turn off the lights if you are in park.
If the light delay is already off, you will have to click it on and then off again to turn them off...but again, only if you are in park.
When in drive, you will have no control of the lights turning off....unless you rewire.

the lever on the left side of the steering column has the headlamp control. turn the headlamp control (one) 1 click and it will shut off your headlamps but leave the sidemarker , parking , and taillamps on. at least that how it works on a 2000 SSEi .

You should be able to turn Twilight Sentinel off, then use the left stalk manual switch. Or if Twilight Sentinel is on with fog lights on, select parking lights on left stalk, this will overide & turn off the low beams. Select off on the stalk and Twilight Sentinel takes over, low beams come on again.
