The ash tray on my '00 SLE has been open since I purchased it a month ago. I knew this when I bought it and planned on fixing it and am now getting around to it. The door stays open and I see no latch or magnet to hold it closed. When I push it down it just springs back open. Could anyone provide pictures of how it is supposed to be secured or information on fixing it? It would be appreciated as it is beginning to get annoying!

the latch mechanism is on the underside of the console, when i had fixed mine i had found part of the assembly cracked, and 2 was able to superglue it back to its original configuration allowing it to now latch again

I'm trying to finally get at it as well but I can't understand how it works... does anyone have pictures of a working mechanism?
