I'm 1500 miles from the end of warranty... thinking it might be time to take the car in for a "final inspection"

I want to make this as meaningful as possible. But I am a novice at all of this stuff. Help!

There are two things I know about:
1) There'* a lot of rattling in the dash, both at idle and when cruising.
2) After it rains there seems to be a bit of a musty smell.. but the rugs have never seemed to be wet and water has never seemed to puddle. Ditto with the trunk, no apparant water.

Now... as far as the other "common" issues... I've grouped them into things that I might be able to ask them to review, and things that probably cannot be reviewed. Tell me if you agree.

Things that can be reviewed:
* Intermediate Steering Shaft: Inspect and grease if needed
* Wheel Bearings (WSS)

Things that are "all or nothing" and cannot be reviewed:
* Oil Pressure Sender
* Rear Window Regulators
* Radio Lights
* Pressure control solenoid
* Lower intake gaskets
* Steering Wheel Position Sensor (does my car even have this? I don't think I have any of the special steering control/stabilitrak modes. Is there a way I can tell?)

My warranty ran out in Feb this year. You just have to suck it up.
The musty smell, ya I used to have that until I learned to turn off the A/C to dry out the evap coils.
You are better not to complain about dash rattles, they will only make it worse or will create other problems. Mine is still rattle free.

They won't do anything unless you have a problem now and they can drive and experience it.

So, are you saying that I can't even really "schedule" an end of warranty inspection??

EDIT: I mean, assuming that I don't want dash rattles checked out and assuming I don't see any water anywhere, are you saying that I can't schedule some sort of inspection that would be covered by my warranty?

For the musty smell if you're able to leave the windows down with the car in the garage that helps a lot. You are in a fairly humid, warm area and if you leave the windows up all the time when parked, you'll build up the 'growth stuff' in the wet heater box. If you can let air cirulate through the car and box when not driving it really helps. Even leaving the windows down 1/2 in ch when parked at the curb will help.

Check your carpets with hand touch to see if there'* moisture anywhere. Check you trunk and spare tire well for moisture.

I'm not saying that you can't. It might depend on the dealer. They usually like to get paid for their time. Unless they find something that they can charge to your warranty, they won't get a refund from GM.

Go ahead and try. Speak to the Service Manager and find out.

Check your cabin filter if you have one , maybe that is the musty smell.

When I was changing the oil today, I noticed that my coolant overflow seemed kindof low. Didn't see any coolant anywhere but I haven't really drive the car much in the past couple of days. Sooooo.. might actually have a "real" problem on my hands... Wouldn't that be something... UIM failure at 34K miles. I know it has happened to others even earlier than that, but geez!
