Default for all those with the blisters,

I know we have that problem but I wanted to know WHEN does this usually start to happen? I don't have this yet.............. I, however noticed that the latch is rusty, I don't know if that'* any indication of what'* to come?

for you that have, or had this problem I just wanted to know around what miles on the car did you experiance this?

The same question for any other common problems water in trunk, windos. ect? I don't suffer from any of these problems YET! just trying to put this out here for future reference to all,

Hood Herpes starts real early. I'm going to guess and say if you don't have them on the top front and underside. It was probably fixed once already.

consider yourself lucky

I bought my 2000 at 34,k miles and it had it.(also one of the lucky to get fixed as well)

others will agree i'm sure on the early miles.

Mine also is starting a rusty patch on the latch again. But I would have to say that is because that area gets scraped quite a bit. open / closeing, normal wear.

Soooo How do you like the new ride?

I'm enjoying it pretty well thanks, only costs $46 to fill here up for now anyway, I get about 290 some odd miles before a complete fill up, thanks for the info, I thought it would happen a lot later like around 90+ the one I test drove before this one had it pretty bad, the paint was pretty jacked up and it had around 94k on it so I just was wondering.

The underside (around lip) had some bubbles for a while. It worked its way around to the top this year, around 70k miles. No water in the trunk problems. First window regulator about 6 months after I got the car, maybe 45k or so. The second one about a year later.

I've got a little bit of blister on the under side of hood in close proximity to the latch. (U shaped hook) I think it'* more of a time issue rather than miles.

yea, I suspect so, I didn't know it affected our cars after 01? I guess it'* more of a time issue some have stated it has happend early on (Gumball) and some very much later,

why did GM do change the primer? I know this didn't happen in the previous gens.

This is turning out to be like a cancer support group.

Went to a body shop yesterday for an estimate.

"We can't fix it. You need a new hood. That'll be US$900 + US$300 to paint it. And that'* if you pull the hood yourself."

[Lifting jaw off ground and replacing it in mouth] "I thought I heard you say, 'we can't fix it', but surely I must have misheard."

"We can paint it, but it'* going to come back."

"Can't you sandblast the damned thing and seal the hem flange?"
(See TSB: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=59032)

"Nope"

They can fix a Model T that'* been buried for 80 years, but they CAN'T FIX a 2000 SLE hood. WTF?

I don't believe this. Hasn't anyone here gotten a hood REPAIRED (not replaced) that'* lasted a few years?

00+ hoods are aluminum, does that matter? Still should be able to prep & re-paint, no?
