ok cool. now to see if you shocks are toast jack up one of the rear corners of the car until the shock is fully extended and the tire is off the ground. take a peek where the boot is in the middle of the shock. is it wet? heavily rusted? boot starting to show cracks? is any of those time to replace them.

when i did mine i unbolted them at the bottom and the lower half of the shocks just fell off.

The car raises when you hit the button because the ELC uses the shocks as mini airtanks. The button and air valve in trunk are to fill a flat tire. (Yours or somebody else'*) So your compressor works, fuse is OK, and the shocks fill up. Do you see the leveling rod attached to a switch just in front of the drivers tire? If the shocks aren't filled under normal use, lack of the rod, or the switched burned out could be the problem.

If you do have the load leveling you should hear the pump when you startup the car....when I start my bonne if I have my foot on the ground while sitting in the car and not on level ground I can feel it rise a little...go from there...is there any grease leaking from the shock?

OK after reading this I have questions about this.
My 02 has air ride....load leveling or what ever it'* called exactly.
Since this is the first Bonneville I've had with it I'm abit new to it.
Can someone give me some info on it exacty.
Where the pump is,what kind of pressure it is suppost to have etc.
And would mine have the tire filling option?
