Air Intake Noise
Ever since I bought my car, it has always had a raspy loud air intake sound, almost like it was restricted. I took the air intake apart and the noise is definitely happening at the motor. After I took it apart, I noticed there is a little grate filter right at the motor (redundant?). I've never seen a little grate like this before on the intake manifold. It seems like it would restrict a lot of air flow. Is it possible to remove this? I'm not sure if I should or not and would like some input on the situation.
Thanks in advance!!

ya i was afraid to remove it and didn't really plan on it. So if its the air intake control, is there any way to go about getting that noise to go away? I could post a vid if you need to hear the sound if need be. Its really annoying me its the loudest thing you hear when the car is running.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I apologize for the shortness and poor quality. I'm in the process of moving and my camera is packed away.
Thanks!

That'* the idle air control. You should hear mine. The stock air box helps quite that down a bit. But having the intake hose off just makes it stand out. Think of it as a choke. It will quite down after a little bit.

I just disconnected the box so you could hear it better. It is still rather noticeable even with the box on and after the motor has been warmed up. My neighbor had a same year Bonnie (*/C) that made a similar noise when it started but went away rather quickly. Mine doesn't seem to stop. But as long as there is no damage going on it will not concern me as much.
