Hey all,

My 02 Bonne SE is coming up for it'* 99,000mi maintenance. Can anyone recommend anything that I might need to have done to prepare for life after 100,000mi?

I've been pretty good about maintenance with this car, but I'll admit I'm not very knowledgeable about cars in general. The last time I had any major maintenance done was in the 50K-70K range (all fluid systems flushed and changed, as well as spark plugs, etc.)

I know I should be due for some of that again, but I don't want to feel like the mechanic is taking advantage of me either.

I bought this car new and I'd like to keep it for as long as possible, it'* the first time I'll ever be taking a car over the 100,000mi mark.

Check and or replace the O2 sensors.
Drain transmission fluid and change filter.
Replace cabin air filter.
Inspect and replace PCV valve.
Inspect the EVAP system and repair as needed.
Check the EGR system and repair as needed.
Service cooling system.
Check and or replace spark plugs as needed.
Check and or replace plug wires as needed.
Check and or replace Coils as needed.
Replace the Fuel Filter.
Replace the Air Filter.
Check tires for wear.
Check belts and hoses and replace if worn or damaged.
Check drive axle boots for damage and replace as necessary.
Check brakes and replace pads or rotors as required.
Inspect suspension and steering components.
Inspect the exhaust system for damage or leaks.

And most importantly...

What is EVAP and EGR?

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation
EVAP = Evaporative Emissions Control System

Has your upper intake manifold ever been replaced or your lower intake gaskets? These are items known to fail on the naturally aspriated motors over time. While there are some that have made it well past 100K miles on the original parts there are also many that did not. Since your motor can last into the 200-300 thousand mile range with little TLC, I'd suggest these as part of the regiment you are planning if they are original.
