Default Rear shock torques

Wondering if anyone knows the torque setting for the lower shock bolts, upper shock nut and mount nuts?

Alldata does not show these for the rear shocks and the generic service manual torque settings seem a little low to me.

Thanks!

The free demo vehicle information does has some limitations. The full subscription has it, as least mine does for the 2000.

Shock to control arm is 18 ft lbs. The shock tower mounting nuts are 15 ft lbs.

Thanks for the info. I have a subscription to the 2002 but it does not show anything about installation of the rear shocks.

Can anyone also tell me the correction orientation of the cup shaped plates that go on each side of the mount?

I replaced the mounts and the shocks and I now have a large clunk noise when I go slow over bumps etc. Sounds like someone hitting a carboard box.

I have check all fasteners and the only thing I can think of is that I installed these cup shaped plates incorrectly or the Monroe shock mounts are no good.

Thanks for any help!

The bottom one faces with the cupped side down.

Well I checked all torques and correct orientation of the metal spaces but I still have a clunking noise so I replaced the new Monroe shock mounts with the originals and now the noise is gone!

Who would have thought that new Monroe mounts would be so noisy!

Thanks for everyones help.

I'm surprised by that, too. Mine clunked after I put in my new shocks, but I thought it was because they were inexpensive mounts. I think they were less than $20. How much did the Monroe'* cost?

They were $46.00 each at rockauto.

I will be sending them an email to return them!

I'm wondering if an email or letter to Monroe may not be a bad idea. Perhaps, you could get some satisfaction from them, and they can also (hopefully) improve their product.

Well according to the rockauto FAQ. Warranty claims are directed to the manufacturer which they coordinate.

Hopefully I get some satisfaction as these mounts were not cheap!
