My wife just returned from looking at a 2003 SE at a dealership, among other things they told her that the battery is under the passenger seat? True? I havent seen it yet.
Do they have 16" 17" wheels? Any known issues with this year?

The battery is under the rear passenger seat, for weight distribution, and the stock SE rims are 16, SLE and SSEi get 17'*

Thanks Jim. I just returned from test driving it. The upper plenum was plastic, however it looked like the EGR valve actually bolted into metal. Drove nice for 30k, I thought it wasnt much quieter than our 90 LE with 183,000 on it though. Maybe ours is just holding together good or this one had a window partially down. It was triple black with chrome hubcaps, dark interior. Paint had LOTS of polish swirls that I would want them to remove if I chose to buy it. NEways...wife and I will decide in the next week or so...we still like the idea of an older fixer-upper since we both like to wrench the ride If we got this one, there wouldnt be much to do
