Default 2000 SE wont start

We have replaced the battery with a brand new one and tried starting it with a charger, but when we turn the key to START we get nothing. The motor doesnt turn over or anything.

When we looked at the fuses and relays some of the relays were hot to the touch, but nothing else comes to mind.

If it is a problem with the starter, how hard is it to get at it? Is this something I should take to the dealer? Any way to hand crank it or something to get it started? Otherwise we would need to tow it 30 miles to the nearest dealer.

Does the starter click, or try to engage at all?

Are you sure you didnt blow the battery putting the charger on it while it being brand new and trying to start the car. Thats a helluva overcharge and strain on the battery.

THe gages light up properly, and go dark when i turn the key. Where is the starter? Should I just kick it when someone else is trying to start the car?

I am sure the battery is not blown.

I cannot hear anything when I try to start it.

if the lights are dimming when the key is turned to the START position, then the Passkey is functioning properly, and the key is working.. if it was the key, then just the security light would come on and nothing else.

Use a hammer on the starter while someone cranks it.

And no, I'm not kidding.
