Default 2 issues I need help with

I have 2 issues one is I get a rough idle every once in a while. Has anyone one else experience this? If so how did you take car of it.

BTW the car is stock.

2nd issue is rotor seem to be warped. I know this is a common problem with GMs. At least with my past GMs I owned. Is this still an issue? Do they offer cross drill rotors for these cars?

Thanks

Rough idle can be almost anything. Pull a couple spark plugs and check the gaps. Check for a loose plug wire, change the fuel filter. On the SC engine, pull the cover and check to see if all the vacuum lines are hooked up and not leaking.

DON'T buy cross-drilled rotors. The drilling process weakens them. They were designed for racing, and those guys swap em out EVERY race. Any Nascar fan that'* seen a rotor explode knows what I mean. The BMW and Ferrari cross drilled rotors aren't drilled. They're cast that way, so they aren't as weak.

Buy slotted rotors. 95BonnevilleSESC and I are both running the RSM'* and they're AMAZING with ceramic pads. They bite harder when they're hot instead of fading, and you'll see a vast improvement in wet braking.

Speedguy can get you RSM'* for a great price at www.domesticperformance.com or email him at domesticperformance@attbi.com or pm him here at Speedguy.

Hector can probably get you a deal on powerslot rotors at www.angryducktofuracing.com or email him at hector@angryducktofuracing.com, or PM him here at 99BonnevilleSE

Rough idle on these cars are usually due to "Fouled" Fuel Injectors! The Spark plugs rarely wear that much since they're designed for 120,000 KMS! I would get your FI system flushed out & go from there.

As for the warped rotors, no it'* not a 'GM thing", it'* actually a NON-GM thing! In other words, using non-GM pads & rotors will cause this to happen. If the pads are too hard & the rotors are made from a cheaper metal, the Rotors will glaze & warp! I use GM Pads only & AC Delco Rotors. This combo will never let you down. If you want "Performance" though, go with the "Slotted" Rotors From Domestic Performance & Use "Ceramic" Pads too.

I forgot to mention the car has about 39K miles on it.

Also, when I took it to the dealer for the rough idle they said they flash the computer again with a new program to take care of it. Which seems to me that it made it worse. Sometimes you can hear the motor missing.

Thanks for the info. on the new rotors.
