Default '01 SSEi super charger query

'01 SSEi, 90K on the clock. Supercharger belt broke. Can the car be driven for any distance without the */C ?

Wife'* car. She drove to work, saw the belt hanging when she came out for lunch. Car hasn't moved, nor has it been started. The other belt is OK. Would like to take the car to our mechanic - a 40 mile drive from where it sits now. Would be a one-way, one-time trip.

the car will run just fine without the blower belt, however it will have a SEVERE loss of power (obviously)

Only concern I see is making sure the belt didn't get chewed up and stuck behind other pullies where it might be spinning and harm any other parts. If you don't see anything obvious, it should be fine.

Thank you very much, Gentlemen. At least now I can get the car to our preferred mechanic.
