Ok here'* the deal with the position. It'* quite ingenious. First off my camera sucks at close up detail pics.

In this picture, the two non-adjusting points circled in red are like the adjusters but smaller and just move in and out.


The non-adjusting points have two small contacts on them that ride up and down on bare contacts on the PCB board. The contacts make a difference resistance depending on how far in or out they are. This is read by the the module.

So in my problem was probably dirty contacts between the board and the non-adjusters.

Nice write up and pictures
Is there any vibration in the mirror glass since you did this? My drivers side has a little vibe while driving but when I wiggle the glass it feels no different than the passenger side :? So I'm not that sure if I have a broken mount.

Nope none or if it does, it'* not enough for me to notice.

Great writeup Karl! I'm glad to hear you finally solved that problem.....my drivers side mirror glass vibrates on the highway...I wonder if taking it apart would solve the problem.
