Quite likely, but you still have a choice between Delco-branded rebuilds (okay, "remanufactures") and totally third-party efforts that don't even pretend to be original-equipment suppliers. I'll still go with the Delco brand over a third party anytime; I was able to do a straight swap, paperwork-free, over the counter at Lee Auto Parts when they saw that my dead alternator was a Delco rebuild, just like the ones they sell, even though I had originally bought it at Trak Auto. Mine was identical to theirs, right down to matching ink stamps on it, so it was obviously a defective one from the same supplier.

If it had been a third-party rebuilt unit they wouldn't have been able to touch it, since _they_ in turn wouldn't have been reimbursed for it further up the line.

(I also notice that the third-party ones don't even _look_ original; e.g. instead of the original black-finish pulley/fan assembly, they'll stick on some weird cad-plated thing...)

I too have replaced my ALT and this Saturday I finally put the 4th one on. The car was starting to stall on stop lights. I have never had my car turn-off on a stop until last November. The ALt that I put on was in my trunk for about 6 months, because I took an extra one when I drove the car to Mexico. This new one is from Murray'*, the other 3 are life time replacements from PepBoys. I don't trust PepBoy products and the only reason I keep going is because I have the life time warranty.

Now I'll just go back and get the replacement and keep it in the house until this new one goes bad. It seem to me that the one from PepBoys' only has a 2 year life span. My AC Delco game me about 3 years and around 80K miles.

Although, I have also replaced the starter it has lasted since 95'....I could see that ending in a few years. But until then our car seem to have a flaw the ALT'*.
