Default Yet again a question. Fuel tank

I looked in the electrical area. It said there is an access area for replacing fuel pump in the tank. I don't seem to have one.Any ideas? My gas guage doesn't work correctly.

That would be the 2000+, you need to drop the tank to do that.

ah the joys I had with that one. when you replace the sending unit, do yourself a favor and get a new fuel tank sending unit gasket from the dealer the one that came with my sending unit was garbage, made the back of the car smell like fuel and made the car throw evap system failure codes. ended up having to do the entire job again because of a $9 gasket. I can probably get the gm part number if you need it.

Sure I'll take the number. I have a '96 for parts.

Hi Chris,

Where did you buy your sender? Cost? How much of a job on your 97? Part number for GM gasket if available? I appreciate the help. Thank you.

I bought both my sender and fuel pump from advance auto

I believe it was a spectra sending unit and it was about $150

the gasket is gm part number 22515965 the list price is $11.29, I got mine slightly less at $8
