Sound like you are heading towards a very expensive ignition switch replacement from the dealership. My grandfather'* bonneville had the exact same symptoms a few weeks before his car would not start at all.
I don't know if this is bad but our security light has been on constantly for MONTHS. I cleaned the contacts and keys the best I could. It always comes on when the car is on.
any suggestions for this other than clean it?

I know how to fix this problem. Having become an artist at taking out the clusters...pull the darn cluster...yank the bulb behind security and call it a day....that leaves a ton of time for BEEEEEER
I never remove those lights...but around 2am with no sleep for a couple days...it sounded pretty funny.
Although..they might not start..the light would still be off if they take out the bulb...lol

More than you want to spend to fix a light on the dash. My parents lock cylinder went bad last year. $400, and the tech put the wrong one in, so the next day he had to switch it, with one that broke two days later.

Yea, it ran my grandfather about $600 for the lock cylinder and 2 new keys. Horrible ***-raping for a simple lock cylinder if you ask me. There is no reason for it to cost that much.
i guess im lucky cause my dad works in the auto parts business and my uncle used to work at pontiac...he did all my work and i think at most the part cost us about 60 bucks or so
