Just popped on last night and the owner'* manual is zero help. I've searched the electrical forum without finding anything.
Wasup with this?

Cleaned both, no difference. Also used my spare key-zip.
I read in the owner'* manual the battery in the remote is only good for 2 years. I'm at 5.
I wonder if that makes a difference? Anybody know?

The battery in your remote has nothing to do with it. I'd still suspect the contacts in the switch (maybe use a small tool to bend them towards each other for better contact?) but the best bet at this point may be a dealer scan with a TECH-2 scanner.

i just recently had this problem with my 96 sle...this was back when my mother was driving the car, and i noticed that the security light was on constantly so i told my father and he just decided to ignore it...sure enough about a week or two later the ignition failed (the 3rd one in this car)...i dont know if urs will do the same thing but just be prepared to have to deal with putting a new ignition in the car
