I don't know if it is just my mind playing with me or not. I notice that when I am accelerating hard, I seem to move faster at lower speeds when I do not give it WOT. When I do give it WOT, it seems like the car takes longer to accelerate. Is this true? It is because of the way the power band is?

I am thinking lean condition.

In our '48 GMC w/70 Camaro 350, my Grandfather didn't like that it ran rich at Idle until it got warmed up, so stupidly he turned the carburator screws down 1 full turn, on a carburator that is a lot. So at 1/2 throttle it got up and went good, but when it went to WOT it didn't go any better. We turned the screw back up 1 turn and now it runs really good at WOT now that it has the gas it needs. It makes a big difference. That is why I think your car has a lean condition, or it is REALLY REALLY rich.

If it is a lean condition, buy a Mini-AFC from ZZPerformance, i think they are $100, and then turn it up to like 110% and see if it makes a difference. Keep turning it up until it doesn't seem to make a difference anymore. If you get up to like 150% and it still isn't fixing it, then you are probably rich and need to go leaner like 80% or less.

If it'* running lean, isn't there something else in the engine that is supposed to control this already?
