Default Wiggly vacuum modulator? update, end of page one

I noticed yesterday that my vacuum modulator wiggles some if I pull on the vac line. Is that a bad thing or normal? Could it have something to do with my poor shifting behavior (shuddery, or takes too long to grab third)?

Wiggly? Sounds very much like it'* coming apart. It would have to be a body failure in my mind. Unless the clamp is loose on the trans.

I recall it as a clamp similar to the EGR to the SC or something like that. I'll have to go take a peek.

I do have a spare off the Zilla if you need one in a pinch. You get the strut locknut I sent?

If they are swappable, I can grab it off the 93 SE. It shifted like new.

Got the nut Saturday. Thank you.

Can a bad modulator cause REALLY slow shifts?

Yup. If it'* leaking (drawing air in) or if it has trans fluid in it. In either case, a mushy delayed shift will be the symptom.

Well, I picked up a new one, along with an tee, elbow, and plug cause the port on the new one is on the front, not the top. Is it a quick swap? If so, I'm gonna go back outside. It'* got a set screw in the port that the guy pointed out to me. How do I know where to set that?
