If your rear brakes are not wearing it could be that the adjusters are not working properly and the front pads are doing all the work.
You should feel a slight drag on the drum when you spin the wheel.
I heard of Bonneville owners changing pads every 20K because the rears were not ]
doing their job.
could even be a snapped rear spring like I had.

This just amazes me, though. I was actually beginning to worry, and I have a new set of shoes and drums under my workbench that I bought with the second new set of pads, figuring they'd be ready for replacement.

My rear shoes were replaced by the previous owner so I don't have a handle on wear
yet. Although my 90 gets about 70k on the rears.

Try using parking brake more often, as that adjusts the rear brakes. I use mine once a week regardless. Only time I don't use parking brake is in winter with damp or wet conditions. Last thing you want is to have linings freeze to drum.

2000 K1500 Chevy pickup extended cab 8 foot bed. I'm going to change my front brakes at 120K need it or not. And they won't need it from the looks of it. Rear caliper hung around 60 and I did the backs.

I'm not the firsr one to say this but front brakes do most of the brakeing. disc brakes which jold better than drums are always put in the front when combined with drums. Also im pretty sure dont hold it against me if i'm wrong but the calipers on front disc on a 4 disc brake system are ussaly in another position compaied to the rears.
