Default Whinning Under the hood.(kind of long)

New to this world, but see if you can help.
Alright, I have a 95 Bonney SSEi with 100K+ on the ticker. Recently I have been getting, what sounds like, a metallic grinding when the enging at idle. Today the belts were removed, and the car would run fine, ie. no noise while running. If the belt that connects to the supercharger was hooked up, there was a small amount of noise. If the other belt was hooked up alone, ther was a considerable amount of noise. It sounds like a bearing went out, but ????? The tensioner pulley, from the front belt, was removed and the bearing was ok. The double pulley, grooved/smooth, was removed and we found a little play in the grooved pulley, but it'* on the wrong belt to be making all the noise. So I was wondering if you all might have any ideas. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the long post.

My bet would be the Alternator.....I haven't lost one yet, but quite a few guys (and gals) here have. Hope it'* that. A bit easier to change than the WP. You're about due for both! I'd go ahead and change the SC oil, too while I was at it, since you yeard a bit of racket there. It'* easy to do, and worthwhile......mine is dead silent, and yours should be too. Properly maintained, they should outlast the drivetrain

Welcome again! You're gonna love this place almost as much as me!
(watch out for Drifter, he'll dry-hump your leg to welcome you)

If it is the alternator you can check it like this. Get a stethescope (or a wood handled screwdriver works good to, believe it or not) and place it on the alt while the car is running. If the bearings are going you can head it ehco (thru the wood handle on the screwdriver) and pin point the issue. The alt doesn;t have to be putting out less power for it to got bad. Just something to keep in mind.
