Where do these go?

So I have follow the FSM as best as I could to put everything back together and I have some loose ends that I am not quite sure about yet:
Attachment 80129 I figured out through perusing the FSM that A, C, and D are engine mount and fuel sight shield brackets. I am also thinking that J has something to do with mounting the alternator just from doing a quick google image search. My first question is do those brackets have to be mounted on after the exhaust manifolds are installed? Here is what my motor looks like so far: https://www.gmforum.com/attachment.p...ine=1336870771 Attachment 80130 Attachment 80131 Attachment 80132 |
"L" goes on the front valve cover to hold the spark plug wires. You will see the guides on the plastic piece line up with the guides on the valve cover....
|
"A" goes on the right front of the engine under the valve covers...in your pic you will see the two bolts line up. "C" goes on the back side of the engine I believe in the center of the valve covers. Not sure of the others from the Intake job I just did, but I am sure others will help you out! The engine looks beautiful! Nice job!!

It seems like in the google images picture I found, A C and D need to go on after the exhaust manifold.. is that right?
|
Just put L on :-D
|
Yes considering my manifolds were already obviously on the car. I can check the other stuff tomorrow!
|
I is the knock sensor cover-side of the block. A, C, D, F, G, H all after the exhaust manifolds. J is rear alternator bracket-mounts to side of S/C. E, oil pressure switch-mounts to oil filter adapter. K is crank sensor-goes behind balancer, mounted to timing cover.

So I managed to get most of everything on, but I still have some doubts about some of the other parts.
1) So I read that H is supposed to go over the starter, but I'm not quite sure how. (I have been known to be very retarded at times so I might just not be seeing it) https://www.gmforum.com/attachment.p...ine=1337580030 2) Secondly I was wondering about E. I managed to hand turn it in about halway, but started feeling some resistance. I just want to make sure that I put it in the right place and there isnt some random washer that goes in between https://www.gmforum.com/attachment.p...ine=1337580030 3) Last, I'm just left with these three pieces.. should I not bother with them until later? https://www.gmforum.com/attachment.p...ine=1337580030 |
E. No washer needed. It threads in just a few and tightens up quick. Leave that until AFTER the engine is installed and the powersteering pump is put back on. Someone here recently just broke the oil pressure switch by bumping the pump into it. Its very sensitive. Actually, I recommend you just go out and buy a new one right now.
H. I believe does go over the starter, but does not bolt directly on top of the starter. Its a hear shield for the stock exhaust manifold. Looks like it won't fit in your setup. F. Is the crossover pipe heatshield. Can be installed after engine is in. B. EGR heat shield. Install after. G. Front exhaust manifold heat shield. Again, with your custom exhaust, more than likely will not fit. |
