Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area.....but here goes.

My father-in-law has a 1998 Buick Lesabre with 15" factory rims. He has a bit of a clearance problem when pulling into his driveway, as the front air dam slightly scrapes as he pulls in.

I suggested going to a 16" wheel to help the problem, and found some '95 Bonneville wheels with tires mounted on them locally. So the question is, will they fit his application as far as lug size and wheel well clearance?

Tires size should be the only difference. Measure the overall height of both sets. I'm thinking they might be real close

have to watch out when getting bigger wheels to increase over all diameter because it will make the speedo ready inaccurate

True, but if the over all tire is the same it will read accurate. I went from 17 to 18 and kept my tire height the same and my speedo is still good

If I read the original question right. He wants a bigger wheel and tire combo to get better ground clearance.

Hold on, no sense in going to a 16" wheel, the metal part on the inside, only to get a shorter tire. He'* just lacking clearance. A 15" wheel going up to a 16" one simply increases the metal part in the middle, but the tire size is the important thing. What'* the tire size on the car right now? Find on the tire something that reads XXX / XX / 15 and let us know.

Maybe there are larger tires out there so that you don't have to get new wheels, but it may just be a bunch of truck tires. A 16" wheel will have many more large tire options before going to an offroad set. But going to a larger tire, you will have the speedometer read a much higher speed than you're actually traveling.
