Default whats wrong with these bottom ends

1992 se with 145,000 miles on it since i've got the car back in setpetmber i guess .i've had to put 2 rod bearigns in it on the #1 rod sicne i've had it. i've had low oil pressure since i got the car it goes right above the red after a long run. and i've seriosly been thinking bout getting rid of it. on a bottom end reuild the crank kits for it are around $200. i think getting my crank turned and buying new bearings for rods and mains will be cheaper than $200. i dont want to spend all this money and then start it up and it starts the knocking again. whats up with this bottom ends on this motors. they saying alot of trouble on the #1 mains and the #1 rod bearings . yall think turning the crank .010 or .020 on the rods and mains and get good bearings would shut this motor up. another thing is on the torque specs on the rod bearigns i've called everywhere in town they said 20 lbs then 45 degrees 45 degrees is half of 90 and 90 is a right angle so torqie the rod caps on 20 then went between a 90 degree angle and went donw till it was straight making it 45 degrees. the only thing i woudl do to this motor is putting a bottom end in it , oil pump, timing chain and water pump. cuase other than the knock the motor is good just got some miles on it. i dunno i want to get out good as i can with money. and spending around $1000 for a rebuild and fixing the car woudl be better than a $6000 car. what do yall think bout all this? i wouldnt be able to do this till summer comes in may

what i need to know is bout the rod torque specs and woudl turning the crank and getting rod bearings and main bearigns fix all the knocking crap.

i know it would be better to just rebuild the whole motor but i want to get out cheap as i can . this is my daily driver i have to have this car running with out problems. and just putting a bottom end in it would cure it for hopefully another year or 2 untill i get money to get a brand new car the thing is i want to make sure redo the bottom end on this motor will fix all my problems and it wopnt start back in another 3 months after the rebuild whats yall think ?

The bottom ends are usually the strong point of our engine. The previous owner probably didn't take care of it. Fixing it may stop it now, but if there is wear and tear on the motor, chances are more things will go wrong.

sorry bout that..... i'm building a 283 for my 65 chevy truck right now. i'll have to drive my bonny till the truck can be driveable. then when i get it driveable i'll trear down my bonny unless i get rid of it before then i see what ur saying bout something else coming out of it theres so many whats ifs . what if i build the bottom end and the top end comes out of what if i rebuild the motor and dont touch the transmission and the transmission comes out of it. what if what if what if i dont want to put $3000 in this cuase i'll just buy a $3000 car to drive. i just think it would be cheaper to fix the bonny than to try to buy another car right now. price is the name of the game for me. but for a total rebuild is going to be up there in price. but after i got thru with it it would be a brand new car almost.

i got to had it to gm i like the way they designed this cars cuase the oil pan is EASY to get off

where i'm at right now is either fix my bonny or get another car and if i get another car i will have no money for my truck which is REAL bad cuase i want my truck done but all my money will go to paying for the car i got .

i just dont want to put say $1000 in this car and something else pops up cuaseing another $1000 to be put in it u see where i'm at

If it keeps hapening and keeps happening, your block may be damaged. Seems Dr.Jay is running thru this right now with his performance rebuilds.

Have you thought about just buying a used 3800 from a 92 - 94?? Even a well taken care of engine with 100K can still go a long way. You can pick them up pretty inexpensively (about $400-500) with decent mileage.
