Hello jr's3800, those readings are _exactly_ the same as the ones I used to get just before my last engine died.... it has also developed a loud rod knock near the end.

You need to have it checked I think, perhaps there'* a different cause to this than rod bearings.

(btw, I got confused in my previous message above.... I think only the metric gauge cluster has the measurement units next to the different gages. For a second there I thought that the picture was touched up and that was the whole point of the thread I guess not...)

jr's3800, Your indications after the 20 mile drive just about matches what I get at idle except my oil pressure indicates a tad above the 40psi mark. I must have a good oil pump and no oil leaks.

40PSI? Eek I've been around 60psi since the introduction of synthetic oil into my engine.

Default well.

I was told somthing today by a mechanic...
Ok.. on the cam shaft.. there tapperd things and after a bunch of abouse they slide over enough to bypass the oil and making it not have any pressure (or really low) :P It doesnt hurt the engine because after the cam it doesnt really have anywhere to go (expt up 6'') not like on a quad cam engine... but this sounds more like my problem then yours..

You shouldn't be driving your car like that.... at least don't drive it hard

GM says oil pressure should be 60 PSI @ 2000 RPM, and you're running much lower than that.

You need to hook up an external oil pressure gauge and get another reading, that'* not dependent on anything electrical in your car.... perhaps there'* no oil pressure problem but an electrical one.

Anyway get it checked before you find yourself in need of a new engine...
