Default What should I look for before I buy?

Hello everyone,
I have an opportunity to buy a 94 SSEi with 124000km on it, and was wondering what I should be checking for first. I was told it had a new GM tranny but thought I could get the shop to confirm this later. It has the CD option along with everything else I'm told. Are the air suspensions reliable?
Basically I'd like to know the most common failure points I can check personally before I make a decision to have it inspected.
Thanks all,
Jayman

Speaking from extremely recent personal experience (http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=20407), get a history on the intake manifold. If it hasn't failed yet, it will. I would certainly try to negotiate in a replacement upper plenum at the very least, if needed.

There upper intake issue is only on the NA Series II. He'* looking at a SC Series I.

Some of the SC owners can chime in with their recommendations for the 94...just wanted to get the upper intake straight for you!

Not to much I can think of for a 94 SSEi anyway. Just check the supercharger oil or change it yourself, make sure the compressor works as far as the rear suspension and stuff, does it have the performance ride and touring ride buttons?

Thanks for the replies guys. I had read about the intake failures, but what I did not realize was, is that it only applied to Series II NA engines. Sorry to hear of your troubles scottydl.
I'll check the compressor for the suspension (so if the compressor works the system should be good and not leak?)
I think it does have the performance ride and touring ride buttons, why do you ask ssesc93?
Do these factory CD players hold up quite well?
I'm thrilled not to have to worry about the intake issues - thanks again!

Any of you pros able to answer those last few questions. Also I just found out through a VIN search where it was bought and the dealer informed me it was serviced there regularly, and had a new tranny installed there in 2002.
Sounding better and better.
Appreciate any feedback.

in my dads 94 ssei his radio volume **** stopped working but i think that might have been just him though...its not too great with cd-rs but it will play them when it wants. i cant think of any other probs hes had...he absolutely loves it. Just curious what kind of wheels does it have? my dad had the gold spoke ones and swapped them out for chrome ones that are the same design as mine
