Default What Rust Converter are Canadians using?

..

I used to use an excellent product from Bondo called Marhyde One-Step. Canadian Tire used to carry it some years ago.

But now Bondo seems to have disappeared and Marhyde with them.

I tried the "Rust Check" converter currently sold by Canadian Tire, but it seems pretty useless when comparted to the MarHyde.

"One step" came out of the bottle white like milk and you could see it turning the rust black before your eyes (two coats and it was a solid shiny black)....

The Rust Check stuff comes out with the colour and consistency of weak scotch and seems to act on the rust just about the same as weak scotch would.

I've been wondering whether mine has gone bad, but the new ones in the store have the same look.... yes...AFTER the shake-well.

Does anybody have any better suggestions? (available in Canada)

Can you get Permatex products up there? If so, Permatex makes a product that is milky in color and consistency and turns the rust black just like you described. It also recommends two coats. It is simply called "Rust Treatment". On the container it has RT-80 and Item# 81775. Comes in a white, plastic 8 oz. bottle.
