Ok just the other day i was on the highway going about 60mph at about 2.500rpm'* i switched into the fast lane and kicked the bonny down. then i heard a loud thud and my car sounded like a ghetto ride. i pulled over and luckily i had a flashlight cause it was dark left my car running the sound was very loud at ideling point when i opened my door. when i looked where the downpipe meets the cat was snapped off. so i drove home. I told my dad he said he'll look at it the next day. he had to air chizzle the broken piece out of the cat. then he bought a piece of 2.5 exhaust tube and riged it up some how. well the tractor trailer sound my car had is gone but i ran it this morning to school when i parked my car i smelt this weird smell. Is there some kind of film they put on the pieces of exhaust tubing that might be burning off. i really want to get this problem worked out. if you have any clue what im talking about...... PLEASE HELP!

Could potentially be a lubricant/preservative on the pipe. Give a day or two, or us a better description of the smell..

well ill specify the smell i really didnt have time cause i was kinda late for school today. it kinda reminded me of burning plastic.
