Default weird shifting

ever since i got my car its always shift good when it cold but when it got warm it got kinda sloppy. so i got the fliud changed at the dealership. it didnt seem to fix it. well now its not wanting to shift into overdrive.
so i merge on the freeway and im going about 75 and the rpms are just sitting at 3200rpm and it should be about 2300rpm, im going down hill so know it isnt under a load. so i wait for a lil bit thinking they would go back down. well their not so i manually shift into 3rd then back to drive and the rpms drop down where they should be. any ideas?

i checked the fluid and its fine. i was thinking maybe some computer that tells the car when to shift was messing up cuz their is times when i goto pass someone or merge in to a busy street and the car just bogs out.

its not showing any codes but i gotta get my scanner back from my friend so scan the primlary(sp) codes.

any ideas?

edit: o and i noticed that the car shift hard once in a while and other times it will shift perfect.

Do these cars have a modulator valve? I don't know anything about these transmissions, but on my dad'* truck, it did that exact same thing and it was his modulator valve.

It'* just a thought but how is the motor temperature running? Are you sure your thermostat is holding the temp up high enough. IIRC the water temperature has to be a certain temp before the trans will shift into 4th gear. That'* in addition to being able to lock up the torque converter.
