Default Water pump replaced tonight

As stated in the MNBC meeting thread, my water pump froze up coming home from there. Here is what the pump looked like

Here is the groove I said the pump put in the block. Boosty said the pump didn't gouge the block.

here is Boosty'* thread and pics

Default block

no bigee, long as the sealing surfaces are OK.
Makes you want to check the pump for play periodically.

oh ya, I bought Haro'* coupler figuring I would need it. Nope. Spun the SC back and forth, no noise, no play, perfect. Well, at least I have one now.

Hi Sonoma, what did it sound like when your water pump failed. I have a 99 SLE which I just changed the UIM and LIM gaskets, new coolant and thermostat. After two days now it sounds like metal scraping while it idels. Any thoughts?
