Default Stupid Question, Air Bag light dinging

Hey, I just got done doing some column work, so I had the air bag off and what not. Anyways, my radio broke, normally when I turn the car on its on so I dont hear anything else. This is my question, is it normal to hear a little beeping when the car first starts? Like bing bing biiiing? Its very very low sound, Haha, yeah I never noticed before so, I want to make sure its normal. My airbag light flashes longer than any other light when you start, I believe that was the way it was before I rippied it apart, is that normal? I am currently going to see if I have any codes stored on the PCM, but am pretty sure the air bag is a seperate system and wont show on that. Thanks for any info!!

Dinging is for the seatbelt. The air bag and ABS/Brake light 'bulb chacks' stay on longer as the system check takes about 3-5 sec.

Thanks, thats it, weird, never heard it before the column work, at the same time I had the door panel of also to do the bumper lock kit, its really low and muffled, and just realized the noise you hear when you have the key in the ignition and or lights on doesnt sound anymore, but that worked after the column work cause I remember hearing it after, oh well, just have to remember not to do those things, heh. Thanks man :P

If your airbag light goes off after a few seconds, you're fine. I still notice new things occasionally, so you're not totally psycho.

ok, some how blew fuse #11, wich stopped my radio from working, also stopped the warning chime for lights/keys, and which loudened the muffled seatbelt chime. Now I reconigze the chime, just didnt when it was low and muffled. Glad I figured it out. Just wonder why the sound is amplified when fuse 11 isnt blown, figure if it is connected to fuse 11 somehow, it shouldnt work at all, oh well. Once aain, thanks

This car is making me crazy, finally fixed one problem, and 4 more show up, the reason I got rid of my GTA and got the bonny. Hope no more problems show when I get these fixed!

Just thought I'd tell you that if your airbag thingy blows in your face, I was wrong.

Keep whittling away at the probs. We've got some awesome gearheads here, especially for the 93. That'* our best-covered year, knowledge-wise.

Don't tell anyone, but when I fixed my steering wheel controls the first time, I removed the airbag wearing a fencing helmet. As in sword-fighting. The kind with mesh all over the face. I have an antique french fencing set. Came in really handy. Those suckers HURT when they hit you, and they're expensive, too.

Keep in mind that there is a means to retain power for the air bag even after the power is pulled. This would stand to reason as it would still need to deploy if an accident occured after power was lost. I forget the exact time but I want to say :30 min without power renders it safe, static electricity not withstanding.
