Default volt measurement - question

while putting the key to the on position the volt meter slowly increases up to the red mark, does it sling right up for you guys or does it go slow as well? i think my battery has lost its juice.
While cranking it sounds normal but looking at the gauge it hits around 6 volts... Iv tested the battery with a volt meter while the car was off (read 12.4) with the car on it was like 13 something volts...

also once you start her up it take like 3-5 seconds for it to hit 13-14v

any ideas ?
alternator & battery ?

Where that meter is grounded will change the readings. I wouldn't worry about.
