Same problem here, I took a look at it awhile back and found nothing wrong.

Guess its just a quirk of a 12 year old car.........

Somehow I doubt all these people have broken mirrors..

How is your idle? A little rough? That will cause a mirror to shake, the next thing is turn the freakin music down...if the bass is vibrating the rear view..it'* likely vibrating the side mirror too.

go ahead and pop off the mirror, you will see then. the 2 little posts come off with the mirror. Just firmly pull off.

if the posts are broke, no biggy. just grab some others. they pop onto the glass assembly.

if the actuator assembly is broke, just grab another and patch the wires (so you don't have to remove door panel.)

maybe your center pivot is off, firmly press back on.

heated doesn't matter (seperate wire not related to actuator). just so you know, the actuator is only held on by 3 posts, the one on the lower left of the pic is hooked to nothing. if the one one the top of the pic is broke, you might just be able to jb weld it on (fix it in some way)

Congrats on the fix - I hope I'm not speaking out of turn here (I've no real mechanical expertise, but have some electircal background), but seeing as how this is an area likely to get wet, I was wondering how you made the splice. Here'* a link to an image of the connectors I use:

http://www.specialized.net/ecommerce...99x928_pli.jpg

(I'm not recommending any particular vendor, that'* just the first google image I came across under 'scotchlok'). You can get a bag of 100 for around $10, they come in handy quite often.

I was thinking there may be a problem using theseon the mirror though, in that they are fairly bulky and might bind up on something. If I were doing it I'd probably use solder and heat shrink tubing.

I'd suggest the water proof connectors above or solder and heat shrink tubing.
