Hey guys.
Anyone in the Toronto area know where I can get a UIM for a decent price? I am thinking I do not want to wait too long before doing this...
The receipts I got from the original owner show that the intake manifold gaskets were replaced at about 93k km (144k now). This happened about 4 years ago. Says nothing about the UIM tho.
The parts replaced were:
Gasket 12537197 & 17113137
Anyone know what these part numbers are?

So, I don't see anything about the UIM anyway.
Also, is there any easy way to check if things are going bad?

No match for 17113137. Without further searching, I can't tell you what that is. Hold the presses. Just found an obsolete reference to it. This is an older design (discontinued) of the UIM GASKET. Not the UIM.

Note: I just got all my parts for UIM and LIM for US$220. You might think about doing the LIM gaskets as well while your in there. Mine were a real mess. They were most likely changed at 59,500miles under a GM campaign, but I can't be sure of that. Car now has 128k miles. Here'* what my LIM gaskets looked like:

...and I did it all with the help of BC. Couldn't have done it without this site.

As I was having no luck locally., I ordered the APN UIM kit. Should get me back on track again!

Well, I got the APN UIM installed today and what a difference. I must have had a small vacuum leak, cause it sure smoothed the engine out. THe biggest difference is with the tranny performance. THe shift quality improved tremendously. It wasn't bad before, but now it is among the best I have experienced.

Did you also do your LIM gaskets? I found that my UIM was not causing my coolant leak; it was the bad LIM gaskets. If you didn't do your LIMs, mark your coolant level and make sure it doesn't drop. Hopefully, your problem was UIM related and not LIM.

Yup, did the LIM too. They actually weren't too bad as they were done a few years back, but I figured as I was in there anyway, it made sense to do them. I am too poor to do the same job multiple times.
Oh, and my UIM was definitely getting chewed up!
