Question Turn signal pivot arm

I've read a ton of posts on here about the "fixin" of the pivot arm on the turn signal switch, and I was wondering is there any way to get that off without tearing apart the "guts" of the steering colum? Its broke on the top and the bottom has a "pin" in it that only comes out to the back of it, where theres a screw from the casing in the way.... Any ideas??? I really don't want to have to put a whole new colum in just for this lil piece. Also is the pivot arm replaceable by itself or do you have to buy the whole wiper switch piece? Please give any and all sugestions? Thanks for reading!
