Trying to help someone with a '94 Park Ave...
I'm wondering if it may be the PCM itself. I know that Bill Buttermore has experienced PCM problems with his '95, and has found that the H body PCMs for '94 & '95 have been known to cause problems and false codes.

He had cleared up the ICM issue and found that the ICM is fine.... Everything he states points me to believe the PCM is fried.. Just about every 94-95 PCM I have seen has failed in this manner... And I have seen several times where the car was read as a code 361 when it was really a 1361
Being that the car will start but you have the code 1361 you are running of Module Mode Timing as opposed to the PCM..
when you get a minute check the connections at the PCM...
I would hate to see you get a New PCM and not need it... If you were close enough I'd pop in a PCM to test with and see what we get...
How many miles is on this car?

Hey guys,
I'm about 120 miles from enfield so 2 hours or so. I've checked the connectors at the computer and the looked good. I can pull them out and reconnect them. Where is the main connector of the harness? I followed the wires under the hood and they went in behind the firewall. I'll pu down the specifics of the codes tonight. One was 18x signal and the other was the est wasn't toggling. I checked fuel pressure last night or the night before. It never dropped below 34 or so and it was almost always over 40. The fuel that was in the tank I burned off and then put premium in it. THis is about the third tank so it has good gas. I'm completely baffled. The car has about 132,000 so as far as the 3800 series shes just a young one.
Thanks, Bryan

I just located a used computer at a yard; should I go that route or are the new ones the best way to go. The yard wants 50 bucks for it so I thought it would be worth it.
Bill Buttermore went through three replacements before he found a good one. I don't recall if it was new or used, though. He'll probably pop in and fill in on that info.
Do the PAs have the troublesome grounding bus in the same spot as the Bonnevilles? If so, may want to check and clean those before heading off for another computer.

I hate to resort to the old "I had this issue, try this" way of troubleshooting, but I can't help myself to relate to a similar issue I had on a 94 Olds 88 Royale.
The thread is long, but you may find some value in it:

After the car was given to a friend, he was relentless and determining the issue. Of all things, it ended up being the harmonic balancer was faulty. He had it replaced and the car runs like a champ now. I last saw him in November and the car had 205,000 miles and ran great.
I'm not immediatly jumping to the conclusion of a faulty HB. However, I would closely examine the rubber boot around the perimeter for cracks.
That PCM from Don (jr's3800) has made it'* way around! It was a troubleshooting step for me, too!

It doesn't run as the harmonic balancer issue describes. The car runs absolutely perfect sometimes to total crap. A slight occassional skip is the only in between. Wheres this bus located? The bus on the firewall with all the heavy duty fuses?
You know what this might be the issue. The overhead display that shows if I have a light out shows a rear light when they all work. The passenger window switch doesn't work; and the interior dimmer causes the headlights and parking lights to do some real wierd stuff. I thought it was faulty switches, I'll check this tonight and report back tomorrow. The code that is incorrect still makes me think your all on the right track with the ECM.
Thank you, Bryan
